Amargaḍhi̇̄ is the administrative centre of Dadeldhura District, in Sudurpashchim Province in far-western Nepal. It sits in the hills between the southern plains and the higher mountains to the north. From above, the town follows the shape of the terrain. The streets sit along ridges and saddles, and the roads bend repeatedly as they climb and descend.
As a district headquarters, the town has the government offices, schools and markets that serve the surrounding hill villages. The main road through the area links it to towns farther south and north, and on the map it appears as a long, winding line. Terraced slopes and forest fill the land around the built-up area.
