Ambohidratrimo lies on the Highlands just north-west of Antananarivo, not far from Ivato airport. The map shows a pattern shared by many towns of the Imerina region. The hill of Ambohidratrimo is counted among the twelve sacred hills of Imerina, the historic royal and spiritual centres of the Merina kingdom.
