An Nuşayrāt is in the central Gaza Strip, on the Mediterranean coast south of Wadi Gaza. It developed around a refugee camp established after 1948, and over the decades temporary shelters were replaced by permanent buildings, producing the very dense urban pattern that came to characterise the area.
