Aparecida do Taboado Map Poster & Print
Aparecida do Taboado sits on the eastern edge of Mato Grosso do Sul, close to the Paraná River, which marks the state line with São Paulo. Here the reservoir of the Ilha Solteira dam widens the river. On a map, the water appears as a broad, irregular sheet with inlets reaching into the land, very different from a single narrow channel.
The town itself follows the orderly layout common in this part of Brazil: straight streets crossing at right angles, forming regular blocks that extend outwards from the centre. Past the last streets, the pattern opens into farmland and ranch country. A road-and-rail bridge across the Paraná connects the area to São Paulo state and draws a long straight line across the water.
An Aparecida do Taboado map poster brings these elements into balance. The dense grid of the town, the long approach roads and the broad shape of the reservoir give the composition both detail and breathing room. In black and white, the water becomes a calm field, and the streets and the bridge stand out clearly against it.
