Baicheng lies in the northwest of Jilin Province, where the Songnen Plain opens toward Inner Mongolia. The land is almost completely flat, and the map shows it. Wide avenues run in long straight lines and divide the city into large rectangular blocks, with few hills or coastlines to bend them.
