Bodegraven sits on the Oude Rijn in the Green Heart, the open landscape between the major Dutch cities. From above, the old core follows the river, with streets running along both banks. Beyond them, the land breaks into long, narrow polder plots divided by parallel ditches. The pattern is precise and striking in black and white.
