Bowling Green sits in south-central Kentucky, on rolling karst country near the Barren River. From above, the old downtown forms a tight grid around Fountain Square Park, the town's historic centre. Western Kentucky University occupies a prominent hill just to the south, where its winding campus roads stand out against the straight streets below. Newer development stretches out along highways and the interstate.
The city is home to the only assembly plant for the Chevrolet Corvette, and the National Corvette Museum sits beside it near Interstate 65.
