Calabanga lies in Camarines Sur, in the Bicol Region of the Philippines, on the shore of San Miguel Bay. From above, the town is framed by two strong natural features: the bay to the north and east, and the slopes of Mount Isarog rising to the south. The town centre sits on the flatter land between them, close to the coast.
The coastline is irregular, with inlets, river mouths and fishponds along the shore. Inland, rice fields spread across the lowland, and roads lead towards Naga City and the surrounding towns. As the land rises toward Mount Isarog, roads become fewer and more winding, and the map shows the forested volcano as a large, open area.
