Campbell is a small city in Santa Clara County, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, bordered by San Jose, Los Gatos and Saratoga. From above, it appears as a dense suburban fabric of residential blocks and commercial corridors, with a compact historic downtown near its centre.
Before the technology industry arrived, the area was known for its orchards, and Campbell grew as a fruit-packing and shipping town. Today the old downtown along Campbell Avenue retains a walkable scale. Los Gatos Creek runs along the eastern side of the city, accompanied by a popular trail and a series of percolation ponds, while highways 17 and 85 cross the area.
