Caringin is a district of Bogor Regency in West Java, on the rising ground south of Bogor, where the land begins to climb towards the volcanic mountains of the interior. On the map, it is not a single compact town but a spread of villages, kampung lanes and small clusters of houses linked by roads that follow ridges and valleys.
The main road towards Sukabumi runs through the area, and much of the denser development sits along it. Away from the road, settlements are woven between rice fields, gardens and streams descending from the higher slopes, and the map becomes a soft network of paths rather than a grid.
