Casselberry is in Seminole County, just north of Orlando. From above, water is the first thing you notice. Lakes of many sizes sit among the neighbourhoods, and the streets bend around their shorelines in loops and cul-de-sacs. On a black-and-white map they appear as clean pale shapes set into a dense suburban weave.
Two long corridors cut across that pattern. US Route 17-92 runs roughly north to south through the city, and State Road 436, known locally as Semoran Boulevard, crosses it on a diagonal. The city takes its name from Hibbard Casselberry, the developer who shaped the area in the 1920s and 1930s before it incorporated in 1940. US Route 17-92 is the city's long north-south spine. It is a straight, steady line that ties Casselberry to Orlando in the south and Sanford in the north.
