Churāchāndpur, also known locally as Lamka, is the headquarters of Churachandpur district in southern Manipur, south of the Imphal valley. It is one of the larger towns in the hill areas of the state. On the map it spreads across relatively open ground, with ridges and forested hills around it.
The street network is dense in the centre and becomes looser toward the edges, with roads following the natural lines of the terrain rather than a planned grid. Main roads lead north toward Imphal and out into the hills toward surrounding villages. They curve and climb as the ground rises.
