Compostela is a municipality in Davao de Oro, in the eastern part of Mindanao in the Philippines. Until 2019 the province was called Compostela Valley, a name taken from this town. From above, the town centre occupies part of a broad valley, with a compact grid of streets and a road running through it, while forested mountains rise on either side.
The land around the town is largely agricultural, and plantations and small farms cover the valley floor with a regular pattern of roads and field boundaries. Streams run down from the hills. Further into the province, the uplands are known for gold mining, which gave the province its present name.
