Cordova is a suburban community on the eastern side of Memphis, in Shelby County, Tennessee. On a map it looks very different from an old city grid: residential streets loop and curve, cul-de-sacs branch off collector roads, and shopping centres cluster near the main arterials and the interstate.
The Wolf River runs through the area towards Memphis, bordered by wooded floodplain and greenways that break up the suburban pattern. Cordova grew rapidly in the late twentieth century as Memphis expanded east, and much of its layout reflects that period of planned subdivisions.
