Croix is part of the Lille metropolitan area, set between Roubaix and Wasquehal in northern France. From above, it is fully joined to its neighbours, with dense terraced streets from the textile era meeting wider avenues and larger plots. It is a textured map, with fine grids of workers' houses sitting beside generous green spaces.
The Canal de Roubaix passes through the area, a straight waterway with locks and towpaths that once served the mills.
