Dunakeszi lies on the left bank of the Danube just north of Budapest, and it has grown into one of the capital's larger suburban towns. On a map it forms a long strip running north to south. The river is on the west, the railway and main road run through the middle, and wooded hills rise on the eastern side.
The railway has shaped the town for a long time, and the old vehicle repair works remain a known part of its story. The Alag district to the north is associated with horse training and racing. Along the Danube there are riverside parks and a stretch of shoreline, while the eastern forests offer walking trails away from the traffic of the corridor.
