Efkarpía is a suburb on the northwestern side of Thessaloniki, part of the municipality of Pavlos Melas in Central Macedonia. It lies on rising ground above the city, and on a map its streets form a dense, slightly irregular mesh of short blocks that follow the slope. The built area is compact, with apartment buildings and houses packed closely together.
Thessaloniki's inner ring road passes along the edge of Efkarpía, forming one of the strongest lines on the map, with interchanges looping around it. Beyond the suburb, the terrain rises into open hills and scrub to the north, while to the south the land falls away over the city towards the Thermaic Gulf.
Efkarpía grew rapidly as Thessaloniki expanded outward in the second half of the twentieth century, and it shares the mixed character of the city's western suburbs.
