El Rosario is a municipality in the Comayagua Department of central Honduras. On a map the town appears as a compact cluster of streets in hilly country, with a few roads leading out across the countryside toward neighbouring communities. Farmland, streams and wooded slopes fill much of the surrounding area.
Like many towns in the Honduran highlands, El Rosario grew as a local centre for the rural communities around it, and its street layout reflects that role: a central area where roads meet, and scattered villages and farms linked by smaller routes. The broader Comayagua region is known for its agriculture, including coffee on the higher ground.
