Fengping lies in the Dehong area of western Yunnan, in the Mangshi region not far from the border with Myanmar. The land here is a series of broad, fertile valleys enclosed by forested hills. On a map, the town fills part of a flat valley floor, with a network of streets and roads surrounded by fields and scattered villages.
