Fishers lies in Hamilton County, directly northeast of Indianapolis. From above, it is a typical modern American suburb: wide arterial roads on a rough mile grid, and inside each square a pattern of curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs around small ponds.
Two bodies of water frame the city. The White River runs along the west side, its wooded banks forming a green corridor, and to the southeast lies Geist Reservoir, with an irregular shoreline lined with homes and coves. Interstate 69 cuts diagonally through the city toward Indianapolis.
