Florida is a municipality in Camagüey province, in the broad, flat interior of central Cuba. From above, the town is laid out in a regular grid of blocks. The Carretera Central, the main highway along the island, passes through it, and a railway runs alongside.
The surrounding plain has long been cane country, and the town grew with the sugar industry. On the map, the built-up area ends quite abruptly. Beyond it lies open land crossed by straight rural roads and field boundaries, with very little to interrupt the view.
