Foso, often called Assin Foso, is a town in the Central Region of Ghana and the administrative centre of the Assin Central area. It lies inland from the coast, on the main road that links Cape Coast with Kumasi, and much of the town's layout follows that route.
From above, the built-up area stretches along the highway and spreads into streets on either side, with markets, schools and churches serving the surrounding farming communities. The land around it is green and gently rolling, divided among farms and patches of remaining forest typical of southern Ghana.
