Gahanna lies on the northeastern side of Columbus, Ohio, where the curving streets of postwar and modern subdivisions spread across gently rolling land. The defining natural feature is Big Walnut Creek, which winds through the city from north to south and is lined with parks and wooded ravines. The small historic core near the creek has been developed as the Creekside district, with a riverside walkway at its centre.
