General Pacheco lies in the Tigre district, on the northern edge of Greater Buenos Aires. Its map is shaped by infrastructure: major highways, including branches of the Panamericana, run through the area, and large industrial sites appear as wide blocks among the dense residential street grids.
The town is best known for the Ford plant, one of the major car factories in Argentina, and for the industrial parks that grew around it. It takes its name from General Ángel Pacheco, a nineteenth-century military figure.
