Ghedi lies on the flat plain of Lombardy, south of Brescia, in the heart of the Po valley's farming country. From above, the town has a clear centre: a compact historic core with tightly packed streets, surrounded by newer residential areas and then by fields laid out in long, straight strips.
The surrounding landscape is crossed by irrigation channels and country roads, many running in straight lines across the plain, which gives the edges of the map a geometric order. To the south of town, the large rectangle of the Ghedi air base, a long-established Italian Air Force airfield, stands out clearly with its runway and taxiways.
