Ghulewadi sits beside Sangamner in western Maharashtra. It belongs to the same urban area but has its own character on the map. Where the older town has a dense, knotted centre, Ghulewadi is laid out more loosely: residential lanes arranged in blocks, open plots not yet built on, and main roads carrying traffic toward the city and the villages around it.
The Pravara River flows through the Sangamner area, and its winding line gives the wider map a natural counterpoint to the roads. Farmland divided into small fields surrounds the built-up area, and hills rise further out on the Deccan plateau.
