Gölbaşı Map Poster & Print
Gölbaşı is a town in Adıyaman Province in southeastern Turkey. Its name means head of the lake, and the map shows why: the town sits beside a group of lakes in a long valley between hills. From above, water is the main feature, and the town is pressed along the shoreline and the valley floor.
The lakes, among them Gölbaşı Lake, Azaplı and İnekli, lie along the line of the East Anatolian Fault, which shaped the valley over a very long time. On the map they form a row of smooth, elongated shapes. The main road and the railway follow the valley between them and link them together.
