Gūduvāncheri lies on the southern edge of the Chennai metropolitan area, in Chengalpattu district, along the Grand Southern Trunk Road that runs from the city toward Chengalpattu. On the map it reads as a corridor settlement: a strong central axis formed by the highway and the parallel railway, with new residential layouts spreading outward on both sides.
The suburban railway from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu stops here, making the town a practical base for commuters working in the city and in nearby industrial and IT areas.
