Gueznaia is a commune just outside Tangier, in the far north-west of Morocco, where the city's growth has spilled beyond its old boundaries. Its coordinates put it on rolling, increasingly built-up land between Tangier's western districts and the Atlantic coast, close to the Strait of Gibraltar and the northern tip of Africa.
Much of what the map shows here is recent. New residential quarters, laid out in blocks and cul-de-sacs, sit beside older rural hamlets, farm tracks and patches of open ground that have not yet been built on.
