Guidan Roumdji is a town in Niger's Maradi Region and the seat of a department of the same name, a short distance west of the city of Maradi. It sits in the southern Sahel on flat, sandy plains close to the border with Nigeria, in one of the most intensively farmed parts of the country. On the map the town is a compact grid with open land on every side.
The surrounding landscape is agricultural, dominated by rain-fed crops such as millet, sorghum and groundnuts, with scattered trees across the fields. Villages appear as small clusters linked by tracks and by the main road toward Maradi.
