Hedensted lies in eastern Jutland, between Vejle and Horsens. The municipality stretches from inland farmland to the coast, where it meets Vejle Fjord to the south and Horsens Fjord to the north. On a map, this gives it a varied outline: a jagged shoreline on one side, open countryside on the other.
