Hennigsdorf is a town in Brandenburg just beyond Berlin's north-western city limit, on the east bank of the Havel. The river and its canals shape the western side of the map, while the industrial areas stretch along the water in long, large-scale plots, very different from the residential streets inland.
The town has a long industrial history, especially rail vehicles. Train building here goes back more than a century, and locomotives and railcars are still produced at the works along the river. Steel production has also been important. On a map, those sites are big, clearly defined blocks next to rail lines and the waterway.
