Hongzhou is a town in Liping County, in the Qiandongnan area of southeastern Guizhou, a hilly region with many Dong and Miao communities. Towns here grow where the valleys widen, and Hongzhou is no exception. On the map, the streets gather on flat ground along the water, and steep slopes rise immediately on every side.
