Hwado is a town within Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province, east of Seoul. On a map, the terrain is the first thing you notice: forested hills and ridges surround a series of valleys, and the built-up areas follow those valleys rather than spreading across open ground.
Apartment complexes appear as groups of evenly spaced rectangular blocks, while older village areas keep smaller, winding lanes that follow streams and hillsides.
