Iseyin lies in the northern part of Oyo State in south-western Nigeria, where forest gradually turns into open savannah. The town is well known for aso-oke, the handwoven cloth worn by Yoruba people at weddings, naming ceremonies and other important occasions. Weaving is a long-standing craft here, and much of it happens in homes and family compounds.
