Iúna lies in the south-west of Espírito Santo, in the mountainous region near the border with Minas Gerais. The town sits in a valley surrounded by steep green hills, and the Caparaó range, home to some of Brazil's highest peaks, lies not far away.
On a map, the streets are packed into the valley floor and climb the lower slopes wherever possible. A river runs through the area, and the main roads follow it, while smaller streets curve up the hills. Coffee plantations cover much of the surrounding land.
