Juventino Rosas is located in the state of Guanajuato, in the Bajío, the broad agricultural plain of central Mexico. The town was originally called Santa Cruz de Galeana, and it was later renamed in honour of Juventino Rosas, the composer born here in 1868 who wrote the waltz "Sobre las olas".
