Kālāvad lies in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat, on the Saurashtra peninsula. The land is broad and mostly flat, and from above the town appears as a compact centre of close, irregular streets with main roads leaving toward Jamnagar, Rajkot and nearby villages. Around it, farmland spreads out in a patchwork of field boundaries.
