Karasu Mahallesi lies on the Black Sea coast of Sakarya province in northwestern Turkey, in the coastal district of Karasu. The most striking feature on a map is the shoreline: a long, nearly straight stretch of sandy beach running east to west, with the town's streets laid out behind it in rows that follow the line of the coast.
The Karasu area is known in Turkey as a summer destination, particularly for residents of Istanbul and the Sakarya region, and much of the building along the coast consists of holiday apartments and summer houses. Behind the beach, the land is low and flat, and the district includes areas of floodplain forest, a distinctive habitat of this part of the Black Sea coast.
