Khajoori Khas is a neighbourhood in northeast Delhi, on the eastern side of the Yamuna not far from the river crossings at Wazirabad. It began as a village and grew rapidly as the city expanded. Today the map shows a dense mesh of narrow lanes and tightly packed plots, framed by a few wide roads that carry traffic across this part of the capital.
Unlike the planned colonies of New Delhi, the street network here grew piece by piece, with lanes following old field boundaries and property lines.
