Khlong Toei is a district in central Bangkok on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River. It is home to the Port of Bangkok, the city's river port. On the map the southern edge is dominated by large rectangular dock areas and storage yards along a wide bend of the river, a sharp contrast with the close street pattern farther inland.
Elevated expressways cross the district and meet at major interchanges, drawing broad curves over the smaller roads below. To the north, the Sukhumvit side is lined with long, narrow soi that run off the main road like the teeth of a comb. Canals, including the one that gives the district its name, add thin lines of water.
