Ko Samui is one of the most recognisable island shapes in Thailand: a roughly rounded landmass in the Gulf of Thailand, with a coast of bays and headlands. On the map almost all the streets hug the shore. A ring road loops the whole island, and settlements and resorts line it like a necklace.
The interior tells a different story. It is hilly and largely forested, crossed by only a handful of roads, so the centre of the poster stays open while the edges fill with detail.
