Korostyshiv lies in Zhytomyr Oblast on the Teteriv River, beside the main highway between Kyiv and Zhytomyr and much closer to the latter. The river is the strongest element on the map: it loops through the town in a series of bends, with streets fanning out on both banks and bridges stitching the two sides together. Ponds and wooded areas soften the edges.
The area is known for granite.
