Kovūr sits in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh, on the northern side of the Penna River just across from the city of Nellore. From above, the town reads as a dense cluster of lanes that thins quickly into irrigated fields, with the broad, braided riverbed forming a pale band along its southern edge.
