Kūdligi is a town in the eastern part of Karnataka, in the dry interior of the Deccan plateau. From above it is a compact settlement: a centre of closely spaced lanes surrounded by lower-density neighbourhoods. The main roads run straight out across a wide landscape of fields, scrub and scattered rocky outcrops.
As in much of the Deccan, water storage shapes the land. Traditional tanks and small reservoirs dot the area around the town, appearing on the map as irregular pale shapes. Roads connect Kūdligi with the neighbouring towns and villages of the region, and they form a simple radial pattern around the centre.
