Kunri lies in the Umerkot district of Sindh, on flat farmland watered by the canal network that spreads across the lower Indus plain. From above, the town is compact: a core of close-packed streets and bazaars, with roads leading out toward neighbouring towns. All around it, fields and irrigation channels form a fine geometric pattern.
The town is widely known for its red chilli market, often described as one of the largest in Asia. During the harvest season, the surrounding fields and drying grounds are closely tied to that trade. To the east, the land slowly changes toward the sandy terrain of the Thar Desert.
