Kurichchi, often spelled Kurichi, lies on the southern side of Coimbatore in western Tamil Nadu. On the map, one feature stands out above everything else. Kurichi Lake is a large irrigation tank, one of the chain of old reservoirs that make up much of Coimbatore's geography. The streets fold around the water's edge, and main roads head south towards Pollachi.
The area mixes residential lanes with workshops and small industrial units, which reflects Coimbatore's reputation as a manufacturing centre for pumps, textiles and engineering goods.
