Lemon Grove is a small city in eastern San Diego County, between San Diego and La Mesa. It covers only a few square miles. On a map its streets form a patchwork of short grids and curving residential lanes that change direction to follow the hills. Its boundaries are irregular and meet the neighbouring communities without a clear break.
Two lines give the map its structure. State Route 94 cuts across the city, and the San Diego Trolley runs through its centre, stopping beside the small downtown.
