Lisle is a village in DuPage County, west of Chicago. On a map, it is organised around a few strong lines. The East Branch of the DuPage River winds through from north to south. The commuter rail line runs east to west through the historic centre, and Interstate 88 cuts across the northern side with its corporate campuses.
The village calls itself the Arboretum Village, because the Morton Arboretum sits on its northern boundary. The arboretum covers roughly 1,700 acres of collections, woodland and trails and has been open to the public since 1922. Benedictine University is also in Lisle, with a campus on the village's east side.
