The Roca railway
The suburban railway crosses the grid at an angle and links a chain of stations. Each station has its own commercial centre, and on the map they show as small knots in the street pattern.

Lomas de Zamora Map Poster & Print
Lomas de Zamora sits in the southern ring of Greater Buenos Aires, where the capital's street grid continues without a break into the province. From above there is no clear edge. Blocks of low houses run on in every direction, and the pattern only changes where a railway, an avenue or a stretch of open ground interrupts it.
The Roca line gives the city its spine. Its tracks run at an angle across the orthogonal blocks, and the neighbourhoods of Lomas, Banfield and Temperley gather around the stations along it. Toward the north the land drops toward the Riachuelo, and the streets thin out into lower, wetter ground. The name, meaning the hills of Zamora, refers to the gentle rises the town was built on.
A Lomas de Zamora map poster shows that tension between regularity and disruption. Square blocks meet railway cuttings, diagonal avenues and the occasional park in fine black line. For many families in the conurbano this is the map of home, drawn at a scale that shows the whole partido.

Continuous street grid
The square blocks of Buenos Aires carry straight into Lomas de Zamora with no visible boundary, so the poster reads as one large field of evenly spaced lines.
Riachuelo lowlands
Toward the partido's northern edge the ground falls toward the Riachuelo basin. Streets grow sparser there, and the dense grid gives way to open tracts and irregular parcels.
